On September 16 the new Arrival hall of Gyumri “Shirak” airport was put into operation, for which “Armenia International Airports” CJSC made a surprise to the first passengers arriving from Moscow to Gyumri in the form of symbolic gifts.

Thanks to the new and built by modern standards Arrival Hall, passengers will now be serviced in more comfortable conditions.

The Аrrival hall, which is twice as much bigger than the previous Arrival hall, has a possibility to serve 1 flight per hour and in case of necessity it will be possible to expand up to 3 times in future, and the actual capacity of the airport will reach up from 250,000 to 700,000 passengers per year.

Passport control will be carried out in the Arrival hall, visas will be issued, and there will be a new baggage belt.

The renovation works of “Shirak” airport runway which was last renovated in 2007 has been completed. A drainage system was installed on the runway, which was completely absent and this had a negative impact on the runway surface.

The airport is located 5 km far from Gyumri and 120 km far from Yerevan. The length of the runway is 3220m and the width is 45m.
